The third edition of the Business Innovation Annual Meeting, an international workshop organized by the Valagro Group, an industry leader in the production and sale of low environmental impact fertilizers based in Atessa, Italy was held from January 27 to 31 in Miami, Florida.
The meeting is an important opportunity for businesses to share in the Italian manufacturer’s latest developments and scientific achievements, as well as those of the research centers with which it collaborates, focusing especially on new discoveries and current research in the field of genomics and phenomics, and characterization of algae. A unique opportunity to come together and discuss new developments in the industry, analyze growth prospects and define research guidelines for the future.
A good number of internationally recognized experts were present at the event, providing their invaluable contribution in their respective areas of expertise. Among those in attendance was Prem Warrior, Senior Program Officer of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and recently nominated to the Group’s Board of Directors, who presented the current state of research on the production of formulations based on microorganisms, bio-fertilizing agents, bio-stimulants and bio activators, growth factors, natural hormones, and biological control agents. For his part, Professor Pierdomenico Perata, a scientist at the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna in Pisa, illustrated the innovative project “miRNA”, whose goal is the sequencing and analysis of “micro” RNA in algae, in order to identify genetic sequences that can explain the positive action carried out in plants and humans. Prof. Perata affirms that “Progress is being made very quickly in the field of genomes, and Valagro is at the forefront of new opportunities for the development of new technologies.”
During the Meeting, results on experiments conducted in Italy and throughout the world on Valagro products already on the market, as well as on prototypes still in their developmental phase were also presented.
“This annual meeting is extremely important for us, since it allows us to define the Group’s future research guidelines,” declared Giuseppe Natale, CEO of the Valagro Group. “Our close collaboration with industry experts in field of agriculture consolidates our commitment to developing innovative and effective solutions for the production of healthier foods for everyone.”
The results presented at BIAM bear witness to Valagro’s ongoing commitment to research and development, on which the company annually invests over 4% of its turnover, in excess of 4 million euros. An important investment in economic terms, as well as in innovation and sustainability, two essential factors for the company, which, thanks to over thirty years of experience, has consolidated its position as an industry leader in the field of chelated micronutrients and bio stimulants, developing innovative and efficient solutions for agriculture that fully respect human health and the environment
