The Italian company has presented its financial and social-environmental results at the Museum of Science and Technology in Milan with a round table discussion on the themes of innovation and sustainable development in agriculture
Today the Valagro Group presented its 2012 financial and social-environmental statements at the Leonardo Da Vinci Museum of Science and Technology in Milan. The Italian Group is based in Abruzzo with 11 branches worldwide, it is a leading company in the production and commercialisation of fertilizers with a low environmental impact, and also works in the nutraceuticals and cosmetics sectors.
After welcoming speeches by the President of the Group, Ottorino La Rocca, and General Director of the Leonardo Da Vinci Museum of Science and Technology, Fiorenzo Galli, Giuseppe Natale, CEO of Valagro, took the floor to outline the main financial results achieved by the Italian Group throughout 2012. In particular, Valagro had a turnover of 90 million euro, with an EBITDA of approximately 19% and a cumulative annual growth equal to 15.18% over the past three years. Around 19% of the turnover was made in Italy, with the remainder overseas, where the areas with greatest growth are North America, +16%, and Latin America, +15%.
In addition to the financial data, Valagro also presented the fifth edition of the Group’s social and environmental statement, which contains an update on the strategies adopted and results attained benefitting not only the company, but also the region and the community, and highlights the future goals that it commits to obtaining. It is therefore a tool of great importance for keeping the dialogue with the stakeholders in the business lively and strengthening ties with the territory.

Over the course of the morning, a round table discussion took place dedicated to innovation and sustainable development in the agricultural sector. An open debate on these issues was held between Pierdomenico Perata, Rector of the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies of Pisa, Claudio Giorgione, Curator of the Leonardo, Arts and Science Department at the Museum, and Giuseppe Natale himself.
“The scientific advances in the field of plant genomics provide innovative approaches for the development of tools and technologies to apply to production processes in agriculture,” said Pierdomenico Perata, Rector of the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies of Pisa. “To continue in this direction it is necessary for companies to invest more and more in Research and Development activities, fine-tuning innovative and avant-garde solutions based on the effective technological transfer of the most recent scientific discoveries”.
