A new meeting for the board composed of scientists, professors and world-renowned researchers outlining strategies for the company's research and development for the innovation of the agricultural sector
Innovation in agriculture will be discussed today in Milan, during a meeting organised by the International Advisory Board of Valagro, a leading company in the production and marketing of biostimulants and specialty nutrients. The committee, established by the company in 2012, brings together, several times a year, national and international distinguished scientists, professors and researchers, mostly coming from the university world, to discuss about the new research and development strategies of the Valagro Group.
In particular, the International Advisory Board is entrusted with the task to outline the possible future scenarios of agriculture, identify potential growth prospects of the market and help to direct the R&D activities undertaken by the Group in the world. The Committee is also working to analyse the key factors for research and innovation of the Valagro Group in the sector, through the contributions that each member can give for his area of expertise: from genomics to microbiology, from nutraceuticals to the physiology of plants. In addition, the Committee is working to identify applications for new technologies, constantly stimulating the scientific debate on the innovation topic. Among the world experts present on the scientific board are, Pierdomenico Perata (Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna di Pisa), Chris Bowler (École Normale Supérieure of Paris), Pamela Ronald (The Genome Center University of California), Alexander Vainstein (Hebrew University of Jerusalem) Riccardo Valentini (Member of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change - IPCC, Nobel Prize for Peace 2007), Teodoro Miano (Director of Department of Soil, Plant and Food Sciences and Member of the Academic Senate, "Aldo Moro" University), Francesco Visioli (Chief Scientist, Madrid Institute for Advanced Studies - IMDEA).
"Today's event is an important opportunity to share internally, the latest developments in science achieved by the Italian company, present all over the world. A precious moment to discuss the new scenarios in the industry, analyse opportunities and growth prospects, as well as define the scope and guidelines for future research - said Alberto Piaggesi, Global R&D Manager of Valagro - The birth of the International Advisory Board and the strengthening of international collaborations with leading scientific institutions and universities, demonstrate the indispensability of "networking" together to find innovative solutions to produce more with less resources. "
Valagro annually invests more than 4% of its turnover in research and development, developing innovative and effective solutions for agriculture, in full respect of human health and the environment. This allows the Group not only to maintain its leadership position, but above all, to contribute to progress and innovation in agriculture.
